Diamondback Media Announcement

“Sweet”

Diamondback’s media announcement. I got there about 1:45 and went straight back to Rivertown for the press conference. It was fairly short, with a teaser video shown on big LCD screens set up around the stage area right after the unveiling. Right after myself and the rest of the media were led up under the patio of the old Antique Photo building, where they had a full Coasterdynamix model of Diamondback set up.

After taking photos and video of the model, me and Paul joined two guys from WCET and our group leader Audrey, and headed for the train station. We got our hard hats and lanyards there, then boarded a media-only train from the exit gate and headed off to the pumpkin patch stop where a fleet of the park’s gas-engine golf carts were waiting. Paul and I got on one with Audrey and took off from the pumpkin patch area and over to a narrow path through the woods used by the White Water Canyon crew to access the back tower. We pulled onto the perimeter road and over to the top of the ravine and got off.

We spent some time there taking photos and video, before getting back onto our cart (The Marko Polo) and returning to the pumpkin patch, this time going on down the perimeter road to where it turns up to meet the train tracks and entering the patch area from the other end. We met back up with Brian Neal there, who had just returned on another cart, and boarded the media train back to Losantiville Station as soon as it returned.

We walked back in a fairly big group and entered Wings Diner through a side door behind the Authorized Personnel Only gate. Inside the Diamondback video was playing on TV screens, and we loaded up plates with some interesting food. I still don’t know what it was we were eating, it was western but nothing I’d ever seen before. Odd but not bad.

After eating, me and Paul went outside with my video camera and Paul’s tripod to do a quick video interview with Don Helbig for KIE. We started to do it behind Wings, then changed course and headed over to the stage and did it there. Better background, but the sound was a challenge because of Totally 80s going on in the Showplace right then. It came out good though.

Not long after, we headed out, walking out to the front gate with Audrey and heading out to our respective vehicles. I was pretty short with this TR since I’ve gotten behind in them, but it was a really good, fun time at the park.

Rides List:
